I have a dell notebook with a CD/DVD combo drive. From last month, the drive reads only DVDs and does not read / write CDs.
Can anybody help ?
it just does not read it, no error messges, it says, Please insert disc even when ther is already a cd in the drive

I have a Dell 5100 Inspiron which I recently purchsed it on Ebay. I left a DVD movie playing for my little brother while a went quickly to the store. When I got back he had the AC/charger on the carpet. Sooner or later the laptop gave out. The adaptor was overheated and I thought that the ac/adaptor have gaven out. So I bought a new one through Ebay and when I received it would turn on for a second and shut off. Tried it without the battery and nothing. So I don’t know what it could be. Please help thanks.
