What is something that you had as a child that you wish your kids would get the chance to have?
Mine is a life without sooooo much technology, don’t get me wrong. i love the everyday ease of 2006, but i miss how things just seemed less stressful without cell phones, the blue tooth, laptops, internet, pda’s, i pod’s, hi-def tv.
I wouldn’t want to be without them now, but what i wouldn’t give just to get super excited just to play Oregon Trail during computer day at school..

My kid is grown now, but I would have liked for him to have a mother and father to live with. His dad and I divorced when he was 5 and I always hated the fact he did not have a father around. His dad never spent time with him. After my son was grown, he came around wanting to get to know him. I’m sure you can guess how that turned out.

I was a child in the 50′s. We didn’t have a lot of toys, and were lucky to have one black and white TV in the house. We played outside, we read, we made pictures out of clouds, we made friends and kept them. There was a sweet innocence then which I think the world yearns for but is lost. We lived life, firsthand….not on line. We breathed fresh air and had our adventures, and they were ours, not a character on a computer game.
While the children today have so many resources, and life is very rich and sweet…they also have dangers and fears of their future. Learning life skills, problem solving skills and adaptation skills on a computer is unrealistic.
Hurray to the parents who take their kids camping, canoing, hiking, and who have planned activities that are life experiences. They give their children the best of both worlds….

LOL. I loved Oregon Trail too!
I’d love for my kids to grow up near home. We are military and move alot. Don’t get me wrong, its a good life. But it would be nice if my kids could be closer to family. We live in Germany right now (home is USA), so home isn’t just a few hours car ride. We are hoping our next assignment will be within a day of home, so maybe I’ll get my wish!

black and white tv with 3 channels; DEFINITELY life without cell phones when you could have family time without being interrupted; I agree with you- doing homework instead of going on Yahoo answers for others to do it for you…..
Oh yeah, and an ATARI

I wish they could go on long bike rides by themselves and explore, but there are way too many predators out there.

I remember just having fun with kids in the neighbourhood no pressure to have the latest gadget. the greatest thing was when someone got a new bat or ball for the daily game in which we all played. the new bat made everyone a better hitter.

simple: i wish my kids have a close family like the one i had. I want them to be able to enjoy nature like i did. I want them to have parents that take them to magic mountain, to the ocean, go camping, rent movies on a saturday night, go to church on sundays all the family together… I want to provide quality time for them. i want them to think: my mom cares for us and she is so cool! of course i want them to think the same about the father but at the moment I’m not married but If I marry my bf of 4 years i know my kids wont be bored at all!
