The best PDA for price – 100.00 and under.?
Two things I def. want is handwriting recog. and some type of money/budgeting software. Also I bought a stupid pda from walmart for like 40 bucks. It was so dumb. The back lite would only stay on for like 5 sec, then you couldn’t read anything, even in the daylight and even when the backlite was on, it was still hard to read. ugh
Anyone have exp. with a good one for that price range?

YES!
After owning approxamately 20 different PDAs over the years (Palm and Microsoft) I am enjoying and highly, highly recommend the Palm Tungsten E from Palm’s factory outlet
http://store.palm.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=1179667 for $128-$140 (I know, a little more than $100 but see below on how to maybe get it cheaper). Check out the specs. It’s a teriffic PDA especially for the price, powerful, nice looking and durable, great screen, can use a standard cell/mobile phone charger (handy in the car!). It has an SD card slot (with an SD card you can play mP3s/music, watch movies etc. or add WiFi), infrared, and of course can be totally personalized with adjustable brightness, auto-off timing, and color schemes. The writing recognition is intuitive and there is an optional on-screen keyboard. The screen looks great inside and outside with a simple brightness adjustment. Photos look great and it’s just a really nice handheld – especially for the price!
(You could get a Zire 31 for less but the E has a much nicer hi-res screen! Definitely worth it.). Some of the factory outlet units don’t have a warranty (read the description to find out) but they tend to be very reliable and you could get parts or repair if ever needed at http://www.gethightech.com
If you are interested in listening to audio with your PDA, right now you can instantly get $100 off any handheld from http://www.palm.com by subscribing to http://www.audible.com ($15/month). If you take advantage of this promotion, you could get an E for as little as $28 plus shipping. The link for the deal is on the Palm site. You could also check out eBay, of course.
One great thing about going with a Palm OS handheld is the huge selection of freeware available – much more than is avialable for PPCs. Check out http://www.freewarepalm.com (you’ll find lots of financial programs, games, handy applications, readers, and more!)
If you have any questions, feel free to email! Happy shopping!
